About SJSU Dining Commons
All you care to eat at the heart of SJSU
Located at 390 S 8th St, San Jose, CA 95112, SJSU Dining Commons operates as an american restaurant serving San Jose in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Because this group is broad, judging a listing on freshness, turnover and how consistent recent reviews are tends to work better than judging by decor or price range alone. Most kitchens in San Jose will adjust a dish for common dietary needs like gluten-free or vegetarian if you ask when ordering. Hours vary widely: diners and fast-food chains often stay open late or around the clock, while bakeries and cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon. Catering and food delivery businesses in California usually require advance notice, from a day for a small order up to a week or more for a large event, so it is worth contacting them early.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 7 amβ12 am. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (408) 924-1740. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, dineoncampus.com.
Its Google rating is 3.5 out of 5 from 227 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
San Jose is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Jose is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Eat at your own risk! I have had multiple appointments that had led to being diagnosed with UTI, and after doing research with my doctor and on my own spare time, we have concluded that the dc food is the major problem of being diagnosed with UTIs. E. coli is a bacteria that is 85% found in contaminated food, and all the meals I eat are from the dc. Not to mention, E. coli is a highly common cause of UTIs. I'm not stating that the dc food is associated with UTIs, but after seeing that the only time I get UTIs are when im back on campus, and my only meals are from the dc, i'm pretty sure their food plays a big part in that. Also noting that i've been seeing some of their meats not bring fully/thoroughly cooked. Just a warning to be careful.

Ok hear me out. Sometimes the food is good. When Iβm hungry the garlic bread really smacks. Everything else though, sucks. A few days ago they had no forks. No clean forks at least. Now both the soda machines are broken so the lines for the water jugs are always so long. Sometimes they run out of water and weβre just left to die of thirst. I was so hyped today when I saw the French vanilla cappuccino machine was open. To my disappointment it spit out brown water that only had a hint of vanilla smell. I feel scammed. Iβm lactose intolerant and the soy milk machine isnβt even open. Look, I love the workers here and theyβre so nice, but Iβm paying money to be depressed. update after spending almost a semester here: all i have to say is i hate this place. the sheer amount of flies that are present, not the mention the ones that come out of the soda machine make me want to actively off myself. my friends have gotten food poisoning here multiple times. the school refuses to do anything to improve the quality of the commons. instead they spend their budget on expensive decor and pumpkins people steal and throw off the bridge.

Ok listen. The DC my freshman year (2017-18) wasn't great. It was about mediocre buffet quality. But theyre under new management as of fall 2018 and the quality has improved IMMENSELY!!! There's much more variety and much more edible food than there was last year! And they have fresh infused water, which I love. They're learning what the students like and dislike and using it to improve. Kinda stingy about taking food out... Just don't steal the plates/silverware ππ
